Fishing Fun!
Every time Geoff and I go to my dad's there are two things that I look forward to: Fishing and eating breakfast at Betty's with my dad! My dad is the kind of dad that can do anything he puts his mind to. He wants to be a Calf Roper....then he'll do it. If he wants to hunt....then he'll do it. If he wants something built...then he'll build it. He rarely uses instructions but yet some how things always come out right. Impressive! So, I love to go and just watch and observe all the things he does that are so successful.
One of my favorite things to do is to go out on the boat, one that some may not think of as fancy, but my dad sure does, and go fishing.
This past Spring Break, Geoff and I got to do exactly that! My dad took us out to Lake Ray Roberts and we dropped our lines in. We weren't really expecting to catch many fish, if any, and definitely not a record setting fish. Well, after about 30 minutes into our great fishing trip Geoff, out of all people, says, "I think I got something" about that time my dad and I turned around and boy did he catch something. This fish was pullin and tuggin on the line so hard that we were certain the line was going to break. My dad quickly grabbed a fishing net and Geoff glided the fish in so my dad could scoop up this Large Mouth Bass. Shock doesn't even begin what I was feeling when I saw that fish get pulled out of the water. My first thought is Holly Cow that it one large fish, my second thought was Geoff really caught that? I could see if it was my dad but my darling husband has only been fishing a total of 3 maybe 4 times.
I will never forget my dad saying that if this was a fishing competition then right now Geoff would be able to say, "I got this one in the bag". All in all, this made for one exciting story and have no fears because I was there with my camera in hand! This world record setting fish was let go but it was estimated to weigh about 15lbs. GO FISHERMAN GEOFF!
The next morning, as usual, my dad and I rode down to Betty's around 6:30 or 7 and had ourselves a real nice breakfast. It's not so much the food that I love as much as just hanging out with my dad. I do believe its the simple things in life that make it worth living. I try my hardest to live for the little moments. I know I won't always have them, so I want to make the most of them while their here. Needless to say, I am very proud of who my dad is and what all he is able to accomplish.
